Westhampton Library Announces Poetry Contest Winners
Two winners have poems printed in library's newsletter.

The Westhampton Library recently published two winning poems from its 6th Annual Poetry Contest: Friends of Water Cooperation. The contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Westhampton Libary, focused this year on water quality and the need for clean water around the globe. It was inspired by this year's United Nation's water initiative.
In the July/August newsletter published by the library, Lily Pereyra and James Buono were singled out for their winning entries, which were submitted back in March. The library states that it will print more winners in newsletters to come.
Patch reprints them here, unabridged:
We Need by Lily Pereyra
We need fish
Fish need us
We need waves
Waves need us
We need dolphins
Dolphins need us
Rain waters the plants
Rivers look pretty
We need water
Water needs us to care
Water Vapor by James Buono
Oceans warmed by the sun
Water vapor has begun.
It goes up into the atmosphere,
Almost like it disappeared.
And clouds collect it and
Turns it into rain.
That contains water
And it falls on my grandfather.
The other rain falls on the plain
And that’s how we get grain!
