HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A woman who said she is faced with a $16,000 vet bill needs help to save her precious dog's life.

A GoFundMe, "Help Junior Get His Urgent Surgery," was created by Marcella Campos of Hampton Bays.

"This is Junior — a fun, happy, and loving energy filled Jack Russell. On July 3 . . . I came home and I was shocked that he wasn't home. I searched for hours around my neighborhood and even different towns," she said.

After posting a story on social media alerting people that Junior was missing, Campos said she learned that he had been hit by a truck.

"My heart was in total pain and I couldn't take it in," she said. "I rushed to the animal hospital and saw him laying there in a cage. He was very scared. I've never seen him like this, ever. I didn't think about anything but him. Since I don't have much money, I asked my mom to pay for it and she agreed. But then she saw the bill and she said she couldn't afford it at all."

The bill, Campos said, is $16,000. "Our only option was to pay something we can't afford or put him down. I would be blessed to the bottom of my heart if you can send a small donation to Junior, I don't know what I'd do without him," she said.
