Bay Shore Man Fatally Struck by Car

A 27-year-old Bay Shore man was struck and killed by a car in Selden early Monday morning, police said.

According to police, a 32-year-old Coram man was driving a 2008 Nissan west on Middle Country Road at 12:45 a.m. when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in the right lane of the road in front of 1310 Middle Country Road.

The pedestrian, Bernardo Benjamin Briones Bautista, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
