County to Treat Islip Town Salt Marshes With Pesticides
Helicopters will be flying over the local marshes applying liquid pesticides to control mosquito larvae.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works announced that they will be spraying mosquito larvicide in parts of the Town of Islip this week.
From Tuesday through Thursday at 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. a low flying helicopter will be spraying VectoBac 12AS liquid concentrate and Altosid liquid larvicide in parts of certain salt marshes to control mosquito larvae.
According to officials no precautions are recommended to prepare for this spraying, as the helicopter will be flying at a very low level over marsh areas and taking other precautions to control drift into inhabited areas.
