A Fatality Waiting To Happen

I personally have witnessed no less than 10 car accidents on the corner of Higbie lane and West Islip Boulevard. My family and I live right on the corner. Today a woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I fear for the safety of my children. My son has to cross this road every day to go to and from school. My family walks everywhere regularly. At this rate it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed. More serious steps need to be taken to reduce speeding on this road and specifically at this intersection. The new crosswalk is a step in the right direction. But someone going more than 20 miles over the speed limit to beat a red light is not going to be able to stop in time for a child in the crosswalk with their parent.
