Lights, Camera, Action: Students Perform One-Act Plays
Students demonstrate talent and passion through short theatrical performances at the high school.
West Islip High School freshmen, sophomores and juniors gathered Tuesday and Wednesday evening to perform one-act plays in front of big crowds inside the West Islip High School auditorium.
The one-act plays provided the students an opportunity to showcase their theater skills while fostering teamwork, organization and direction.
The freshmen led off with "Beauty IS a Beast" by D.M. Bocaz-Larson. The play, directed by students William Bassler and Justin Scheidling, told the story of how Princess Beauty realizes there is more to being beautiful than just looks.

The juniors performed "Peggy the Pint-Sized Pirate" by D.M. Bocaz-Larson and directed by students Emily Brodtman and Jeannette Florio. The play told the story of Peggy the Pirate who was scoffed out by fellow pirates for being too small but wound up saving the day.
