Long Island Woman Who Killed Her Newborn Sentenced
BREAKING: The former live-in housekeeper initially denied giving birth, but her baby girl was found dead in a plastic bag in 2014.
A Long Island woman who killed her newborn baby girl in 2014 was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in prison, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Santos Elena Ruiz Solano, 29, gave birth on Feb. 16, 2014 at 3 a.m. at a home on Shoal Drive in West Islip where she was employed as a live-in housekeeper. When she sought medical care for bleeding at a nearby hospital, she initially denied giving birth, police said.
The baby’s body was later found in a plastic bag in a garbage can and given to hospital personnel, who called police.
