Much-Needed Roadway Improvements Complete For School, Hospital in West Islip
Beach Drive repairs complete.

Town of Islip Press Release
The Town of Islip is pleased to announce the completion of a significant roadway improvement project in West Islip. Beach Drive, which provides access to St. John the Baptist High School, Good Samaritan Hospital, and West Islip Beach, was in dire need of repairs to the roadway and drainage infrastructure. The Town of Islip Department of Public Works recently completed those paving and drainage improvements.
“There are critical roadways in our Town that must always be made as safe as possible for our motorists, and Beach Drive is a prime example,” said Supervisor Tom Croci. “The students, medical personnel, and families that utilize this road can now enjoy a smoother and safer ride.”

“Good Samaritan’s Emergency Department is among the busiest on Long Island and the entrance is on Beach Drive. It is essential that we maintain the roadway to allow our community to obtain emergency care around the clock. We are thrilled that this paving project literally smoothes the way for ambulances and others who need medical care,” said Theresa Jacobellis, Assistant Vice President, Public Affairs and Marketing at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
“We are thrilled that Beach Drive was able to be repaved so efficiently with little disruption to the hospital and school routines. We greatly appreciate the work and coordinated efforts of the Town of Islip in anticipating and completing the project,” said Nan Doherty, Principal at St. John the Baptist.
