UPDATE: More Than 30 MS-13 Gang Members Arrested For Brentwood Slayings: Police
Police made the announcement Thursday after six people were found dead in the area over the past month.

Update: Suffolk County Police announced on Thursday that more than 30 MS-13 gang members have been arrested following the deaths of six people recently discovered in the Brentwood area.
A total of six of the gang members are currently in federal custody while the other 25 have been arrested on state charges since the first slayings occurred last month, according to a report in Newsday.
Police have not yet released the identity of the gang members.

The remains of a Brentwood gang member was found at the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center earlier this week, bringing the total body count in Brentwood since September to six, according to Suffolk County Police.

The body of 18-year-old Jose Pena-Hernandez was discovered on Oct. 17 in a wooded area at the center located on 998 Crooked Hill Road, police said.
Pena-Hernandez, a known MS-13 gang member, was reported missing on June 13.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. The investigation is continuing.
Last week, 34-year-old Dewann A.S. Stacks was found dead lying in the road in front of 231 American Boulevard.
Last month, 15-year-old Nisa Mickens and 16-year-old Kayla Cuevas were found dead near Stahley Street and Ray Court, and the remains of 19-year-old Oscar Acosta and 15-year-old Miguel Garcia Moran were found in a wooded area by Emjay Boulevard.
Their deaths are all believed to be tied to gang activity. So far, police have not said if an arrest has been made in connection to the murders.
