Talk Back: WISD Administrative Retirements
With several long-time school district administrators set to retire in the next few months, Patch wants your opinion on what impact this could have.
The announcement this past week that Louis Zocchia, West Islip School District’s assistant superintendent for Human Resources, will retire later this year is the latest in a line of retirements from school district administrators.
Just a few weeks ago, the school district announced that Bernie Jones, director of Fine Arts and Music Education; Deborah Vertovez, director of Special Education and Pupil Services; and Zaphiria Gabriel, director of Mathematics (secondary), Science and Technology would all retire.
In addition, Magda Parvey, who served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, left West Islip for an administrative position with the Chapel Hill-Carboro City Schools in North Carolina.
