West Islip School Budget Passes Easily

Voters have decided on a proposed 2015-16 budget.

West Islip residents approved the school district’s $117.75 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,301-482.

The budget represents a 2.14 percent spending increase over the current year and it includes a 2.23 percent hike in the school tax levy, within the district’s state tax cap.

Steven Gellar and Michael Zotto both ran unopposed for re-election to the West Islip Board of Education.
