1st Westchester County Executive Debate Scheduled
The incumbent county executive will square off against a state senator.

RYE BROOK, NY — The first head-to-head debate in the Westchester county executive race has been scheduled. The Business Council of Westchester will host the debate between Republican incumbent Rob Astorino and Democratic challenger George Latimer. It will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the Reckson Center, 360 Hamilton Ave. in White Plains.
John Ravitz, executive vice president and COO of the Business Council of Westchester said the county executive impact many important issues that affect the business community and the county. “We are looking forward to hearing from the candidates on key issues such as economic development, the impact of closing Indian Point, the future of the Westchester County Airport and the fiscal health of the county as it deals with state mandates and seeks new sources of revenue,” he said.

The debate will be moderated by pollster and political expert Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.
Ravitz said that the business council has been active in bringing relevant issues to the fore with its political leadership series which has hosted many of the state’s top officials as part of the organization’s mission to keep its members informed.

The organization’s Political Leadership Series has featured such people as New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, state Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan, Secretary to the Governor William J. Mulrow and MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast.
