County Human Rights Commission Condemns Recent Bomb Threats, Anti-Semitic Graffiti

The commission passed a resolution condemning the bomb threats and other hateful actions.

The Westchester County Human Rights Commission issued a statement Friday joining in the condemnation recent bomb threats that occurred recently in Westchester and around the country.

Jerold Ruderman, chairman of the Human Rights Commission and former president of the Scarsdale Jewish Community Center, said he strongly supports the efforts of the commission's executive director and his staff to educate the public about inclusion and racial and religious harmony.

“The commission is aware of, and disgusted by, the recent slate of anti-Semitic actions, including bomb threats at Jewish Community Centers, both locally—in New Rochelle and Tarrytown—and nationwide, and vandalism that includes the painting of swastikas on the Bronx River Pathway, and at John Jay High school; and the Commission denounces and condemns these actions, and those who would seek to invoke fear and sow discord among our community. These actions are not to be tolerated, and should be punished to the fullest extent permissible by law,” the statement said.
