The Muscular Dystrophy Association's First Annual Muscle Summit

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) will holds its first annual Muscle Summit to teach the community about current research and services regarding muscle disease on Thursday, November 3, 2011.

A full day of the latest information will be provided to area physicians and individuals and families affected by muscle disease from 3 -7:30 p.m. at the Burke Rehabilitation Center, located at 785 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, N.Y. 10605.

Attendees will learn about current research and services in the community and have the opportunity to attend a workshop in the evening.  Leaders in the study of neuromuscular disease will present all information.

            Workshop topics include idevices as tools of independence, accessible recreation, ensuring insurance pays your medical bills, self advocating, effectively advocating for your child, balancing life as a caregiver, family member, and professional, living independently as a young adult, and more.  Attendees will have the opportunity to meet area vendors and service organizations.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research.  Locally, the Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
