Football Team Contractor Charged With Thefts: Police

Police accused a woman on the production team with the thefts that occurred during two separate home games at the county center

WHITE PLAINS, NY — An arrest has been made in regard to recent thefts during a New York Streets game at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Westchester County Police arrested Aniyah Booker, 18, of Hamden, Connecticut, Thursday following an investigation by detectives from the General Investigations Unit.

She is facing two misdemeanor larceny charges.

Police said Booker is a production contractor with the New York Streets, which plays its home games at the county center.

The first theft occurred July 5, authorities said.

A member of the Streets dance team reported that someone took about $1,000 in cash from her bag while it was left unattended in a changing room used by dance team members.

On July 21, members of the visiting Carolina Cobras football team reported that someone entered their locker room before half-time and took about $3,000 in cash and ring from multiple lockers.

The game was canceled at half-time after the thefts were reported.

Booker was processed at county police headquarters and released on a desk appearance ticket requiring her to appear in White Plains City Court on Aug. 8.

Corey Galloway, owner of the New York Streets, issued a statement to Patch about the arrest of Booker:

I am thankful to the Westchester County Police for the swift investigation of this matter. A game-day production hire, Aniyah Booker, been charged with the two recent thefts that occurred at the Westchester County Center at New York Streets home games. I am outraged by her actions and I fully support the criminal charges that were brought against her. Aniyah’s actions have caused serious damage to our team, our fans and the National Arena League. We expect she will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
