Pace School of Education Offers Workshop Series for Parents
Parents learn techniques to boost literacy, best school placements and fun robotics and coding for children in March and April

PLEASANTVILLE, MARCH 23 – Learn new techniques to help your child with reading, get advice on the best school placements or have fun learning to program robots in this series of courses for parents and school partners being offered by Pace University in March and April.
Taught by nationally and internationally renowned faculty at Pace’s School of Education, the workshops will give parents and school partners practical information on how to engage children as well as how to work with schools on the best placement for their children, how to deal with state testing and more.

Collaborating with Your Schools

Learn the techniques to better collaborate with your child’s school in a positive way. Topics covered will include: How do schools place children in classes (and what to do if you think your child is poorly-placed); How to support the school’s instructional program - especially in reading and math. And how to deal with State tests including:
•“Opt-in or Out”;
• Using test data to help your child;
•Discussions of PTA/PTOs and foundations;
School of Education Professor and retired Westchester schools superintendent Brian Monahan teaches this workshop.

We, Robot: Learning Coding Together

Spend a couple of hours playing with and learning how to program robots! By the end of this workshop, you will be able to have a robot run a race and do a dance of your own choreography. School of Education Professor and Educational Technology Program Coordinator Gerald Ardito teaches this workshop.
