Patch Picks: Where to Cool Down With Ice Cream in White Plains

This week's Patch Picks: Ice Cream Hot Spots

1.) - 25 Mamaroneck Ave.

For your Cold Stone experience, anticipate high prices but truly delicious ice cream creations.

You can either make your own custom Cold Stone creation from a variety of flavors and mixed in toppings, or choose from their signature creations. Get a small or “like it” signature creation for $4.95, a medium or “love it” for $5.39 and a large or “gotta have it” for $6.59.

Top signature sellers include Oreo Overload, which is made of sweet cream ice cream infused with chocolate chips, double Oreo cookies and fudge. Another favorite is the tasty Birthday Cake Remix made of sweet cake batter ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, brownie and fudge, or the Coffee Lovers Only made of coffee ice cream, roasted almonds, heath toffee bar and caramel.

New summer flavors, such as strawberry basil and chocolate hazelnut, prove to be especially tasty and refreshing. 

Open from 12 pm – 10:30 pm weekdays, and 12 pm- 11:30 weekends.

2.) - 66 Mamaroneck Ave.

Get the classic Haagen- Dazs ice cream, the special “five ice cream” which is made of only five ingredients for a more natural taste, sorbet or frozen yogurt.

Get a small ice cream for $3.25, medium for $4.25 and a large for $5.25. Be sure to check out the top selling, creamy butter pecan, caramel cone or rocky road. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out the pineapple coconut or rum raisin, or get a dazzler frozen dessert which is made of your favorite flavor combined with three layers of delicious toppings.

Try new products such as the blueberry crumble made of blueberry and pie, or the sweet chai latte. There are eight more new flavors coming in, so be on the look out for some tasty new treats.

Open 11:30 am- 10:30 pm seven days a week, Haagen Dazs offers seating as well as to-go options.

3.) - 125 Westchester Ave.

There’s nothing like some homemade, cleverly packaged Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

Favorites include the Chunky Monkey, which is banana ice cream with fudge chunks and walnuts, or the Half Baked frozen yogurt, which is chocolate and vanilla low fat frozen yogurt mixed with fudgey brownies and chocolate chip cookie dough. Get a kid’s size for $3.24, a regular for $4.17 or a large for $5.09.

Ben & Jerry’s is always introducing new flavors such as the American Dream, vanilla ice cream with fudge covered waffle cone pieces and caramel swirls, or the Bonnaroo Music Festival inspired flavor, Bonnaroo Buzz, coffee and malt ice cream with coffee chunks and a whiskey caramel swirl.

Located in the food court of The Westchester Mall, this Ben & Jerry’s location is open Monday-Saturday 10:30 am- 9 pm and Sundays 10:30 am- 6 pm.

4.) Carvel- 419 Central Ave.

If you’re looking for great, freshly made soft serve ice cream on these hot summer days, Carvel’s the place to go.

A small soft serve cup goes for $2.65, medium for $4.25 and large for $5.00. Add on 60 cents for hard ice cream and another 60 cents for toppings.

Be sure to try a brown bonnet, soft served vanilla or chocolate ice cream dipped fully in hardened fudge or one of their delicious smoothies. There are three new Cookie Trio Sundae Dashers, like the vanilla ice cream blended with OREO cookies and fuge, the peanut butter ice cream infused with chunks of Nutter Butter cookies and peanut butter toppings, or the banana ice cream blended with Nilla Wafers and marshmallows.

Carvel is open from 11 pm -9:30 pm all week and offers seating and to go packages, like the yummy flying saucers or ice cream cupcakes. Go to their website to download a ready-to-use coupon.

5.) - 81 Knollwood Rd. (Greenburgh)

The success of the largest ice cream chain in America proves to be a legitimate title. 

The most popular flavors include chocolate chip cookie dough, oreo cookies ‘n cream, and the buttery made with snickers. Try the icing on the cake ice cream or strawberry cheesecake, or the new Captain America flavor which is vanilla ice cream infused with a swirl of blue chocolate chips and cherry flavored ribbon.  

Get a small for $2.99, a medium for $3.99 or a large for $5.99.

Stop by Baskin Robbins 11 am-10 pm seven days a week for a sit-in ice cream experience or get it to go. New packaged mini cones are also available for take-out.
