Westchester Considering Co-op Application Process Limits

A lawyer for a co-op advisory council said the new law is not necessary and could cause problems for co-op boards.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester lawmakers are considering a new bill that would require co-ops to give rejected purchasers a written explanation for the decision. Additionally, the law would establish deadlines for co-op boards to make a decision on an applicant.

The legislation was referred to committees for discussion Monday night, lohud.com said.

A lawyer for the Westchester Cooperative and Condominium Advisory Council said the law was not necessary and could burden co-op board members and invite litigation.
