White Plains OKs Rezoning for Transit-oriented Development
The mixed-used development is located near the train station.

WHITE PLAINS, NY - Zoning changes paved the way for a new development near the White Plains Metro-North Station.
The White Plains Common Council voted unanimously Monday to rezone the Westmoreland Avenue corridor to allow mixed-use development including residential uses.
At the meeting, the council gave its OK to a special permit and site plan for Norden Lofts LLC to convert an existing 48,000-square-foot structure at 121 Westmoreland Ave. into a 56,424-square-foot residential building.

Amenities for residents will include a community room, bicycle storage, fitness room and bocce court.
The previous zoning only allowed light industrial uses. The new zoning is light industrial mixed use.
Mayor Tom Roach was pleased with the approved rezoning, saying the development fits the location.
“There are buildings in the area which have a lot of potential,” he said. “I saw the zoning amendment as a way to enable that change.”
