City Wants To Renovate McCarren Park Ballfields
The ballfields in McCarren Park could get a $6 million upgrade, according to city records and reports.
WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN -- The McCarren Park baseball fields could get a major renovation, city records show.
The Parks Department has proposed a $6 million upgrade for three baseball fields in the park near Bedford and Driggs avenues, according to city records and the Greenpoint Post.
The next step in the process will be a "visioning session" slated to be held at McCarren Play Center at 776 Lorimer St. on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.

The event is open to any local residents who want to learn more about proposed installation of natural turf or make suggestions about new designs.

The soccer field is currently getting a $3 million upgrade, construction is about to begin on the bathhouse, and Parks officials are working on bringing a snack bar and food trucks to the McCarren Park Field House.
The Parks Department did not immediately respond to Patch's request for more information.
