East Williamsburg Truck Fatality: Coney Island Man Killed In Parking Lot

Hou J. Li was struck by a 2005 GMC flatbed truck as it was backing out of a parking lot on Metropolitan Avenue, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Police are investigating the death of a Coney Island man who was killed when a flatbed truck backed into him in an East Williamsburg parking lot.

Hou J. Li, 63, was struck by a 2005 GMC flatbed truck inside the lot at 1233 Metropolitan Ave. around 3 p.m. Monday, police said.

Emergency responders determined Li had suffered from head trauma and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police.

The 32-year-old driver — who had not been arrested as of Tuesday morning — had been trying to back out of the lot when he hit Li, said police.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
