Kosciuszko Bridge Bus Collision Stalls BQE Traffic, Officials Say

A bus crashed in Greenpoint near the Brooklyn side of the bridge Monday afternoon, the FDNY said.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — A bus crash on the Kosciuszko Bridge in Brooklyn injured one person and stalled traffic on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway Monday afternoon, officials said.

The bus crashed in the Brooklyn-bound lanes of the BQE, near Stewart Avenue and Cherry Street, around 2:25 p.m., according to the Office of Emergency Management and the FDNY.

One person was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in unknown condition, said an FDNY spokeswoman

The accident caused traffic delays on the southbound lanes of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on the Kosciuszko Bridge an hour after the accident occurred, according to an alert from Notify NYC.

B24 buses were also running with in both directions delays an hour after the crash, according to the MTA.

The New York State Department of Transportation, the agency manages the bridge, did not have any immediate information about the crash.
