L Trains Won't Run October Weekends

Consider it a fun preview of the L Train Shutdown.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN -- Brooklynites will get to sample the fun and excitement of life without the L train every weekend in October, according to the MTA.

The L train will not run for four weekends in October and two weekends in November as the MTA prepares for the looming 15-month L train shutdown slated to begin in April 2019.

Here's what you need to know about when it's happening and what public transportation options will be available to those crazy people who leave their neighborhoods on the weekend.

When will the L train stop running?

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, L trains will not run on the following weekends:

  • Oct. 5-8
  • Oct. 12-15
  • Oct. 19-22
  • Oct. 26-29
  • Nov. 9-12
  • Nov. 16-19

Alternate Routes Between Brooklyn and Manhattan:

  • During the day, M trains will run between the 96th Street Q train station in Manhattan and the Middle Village-Metropolitan Ave., running on the Q and F lines.
  • For overnight service, take the J train

Alternate Routes In Brooklyn:

  • Shuttle buses will run between Lorimer Street and Marcy Avenue, making stops at Bedford Avenue and Hewes Street.
  • Shuttle buses will run between Myrtle-Wyckoff avenues and Lorimer Street, making stops at Graham Avenue, Grand Street, Montrose Avenue, Morgan Avenue, Jefferson Street and DeKalb Avenue.
  • Shuttle buses will run between Myrtle-Wyckoff avenues and Broadway Junction, making stops at Halsey Street, Wilson Avenue, Bushwick Avenue-Aberdeen Street.

Alternate Routes In Manhattan:

  • Additional M14A buses will run between Eighth Avenue and Essex Street
