Pickpockets Target Williamsburg Stores And Restaurants, Police Say

The suspects have stolen wallets from four victims in Williamsburg this summer, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Police are hunting for a gang of pickpockets who have struck in Williamsburg restaurants and clothing stores four times this summer.

The robbers first appeared at the restaurant Juliette on North Fifth Street near Bedford Avenue around 10 a.m. on June 26, when they stole the wallet of a 53-year-old woman, police said.

Less than two hours later, one of the robbers pulled a wallet out of a purse belonging to a 37-year-old employee at IGWT, the clothing store at 129 Bedford Ave., said police.

The pickpockets then stole a wallet from a 20-year-old employee of Sandro, a high-end clothing store at 65 N. Sixth St., on June 30 around 5 p.m., police said.

Finally, the gang stole credit cards from a 29-year-old employee at the boutique store Meg at 54 N. Sixth St. on July 3 around 5:30 p.m., said police.

Police released photos Wednesday of four men seen using the first victim’s credit card at a CVS located at 338 E. 23rd St. in Manhattan on June 26 around 6 p.m.
