Queens Man Dies In First Fatal Accident On The New Kosciuszko Bridge, Police Say
Jose Murphy crashed on the BQE in Greenpoint Friday night and later died from his injuries, police said.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — A man who crashed his car on the Kosciuszko Bridge Friday night became the first person to lose his life on the new overpass, according to police.
Jose Murphy, 37, crashed his red Toyota Rav 4 into Brooklyn-Queens Expressway wall near Kingsland Avenue in Greenpoint around 10:50 p.m. as he was driving toward Queens, police said.
Emergency responders rushed Murphy to Woodhull Hospital, where he later died, police said.

No other cars were involved in the accident, said police.
Investigators told the New York Daily News that the Queens man may crashed his car during a medical emergency.

The new swath of the Kosciuszko Bridge made its debut in April and an older portion of the 78-year-old structure is expected to be demolished this summer.
