Robbers Impersonating Immigration Officers Rob Williamsburg Cyclist, Police Say

The men claimed to be Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and flashed silver badges before robbing the cyclist, police said.

EAST WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A group of men pretending to be immigration officers shoved a man to the ground and robbed him earlier this month, according to police.

The 25-year-old victim was riding his bike near Johnson Avenue and Humboldt Street around 10 p.m. on July 11 when a gray minivan pulled up beside him and a man inside demanded the cyclist stop, police said.

Three men jumped out of the van, pulled out silver badges and told the cyclist they were immigration officers before throwing the victim to the ground and grabbing his wallet, said police.
