Wall Collapse At Williamsburg Church Prompts Evacuations: FDNY

The surrounding buildings to the Grand Street church have been evacuated while officials investigate, FDNY said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — Several Grand Street buildings were evacuated when a church wall collapsed Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

Emergency crews rushed to 331 Grand St. after a side wall collapsed inside the Arca De Regugio church just before 1 p.m., FDNY officials said.

About seven feet of the first-floor interior wall that adjoined the building with 335 Grand Street had collapsed, Department of Building officials later said. Both buildings were evacuated, along with 329 Grand Street for safety.

No injuries were reported, FDNY officials said.

DOB inspectors and engineers were still on site of the three-story building, which houses Arca De Regugio Church, as of 4 p.m. Their investigation is ongoing, DOB officials said.
