WATCH: Attack On Hasidic Man Is Second On Brooklyn Block In Week
The assault is being investigated as a hate crime and is one of several in the area that have alarmed officials.
WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN -- An assault on a Hasidic man Friday was just around the corner from where a 9-year-old boy in Hasidic clothes was attacked five days earlier. Some officials are concerned that the most recent assault is part of a pattern of hate crimes in the area.
Around 6:40 p.m. the man, captured on surveillance video, punched a 33-year-old man wearing Hasidic clothing in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground. The victim had been standing in front of 68 Throop Avenue and suffered minor injuries from the attack, police said.
The Sunday before, a 9-year-old boy in Hasidic clothes had been walking home when a man punched him in the face on Throop Avenue near Walton Street.

"Deeply concerned with increase in violent incidents against Jews in NY," tweeted Yaacov Behrman, founder of the Jewish Future Alliance, pointing out Friday's attack and another assault in Crown Heights. "...A parent asked me today if it is safe for her kids to walk alone!"
Behrman's post was retweeted by City Councilman Brad Lander, who represents Park Slope and other neighborhoods.
"Another horrific anti-Semitic incident in Brooklyn," Lander said. "...Something is deeply wrong when those who are visibly Jewish are subjected to random acts of hate & violence. As we light the first light of Hanukkah tonight, we've got a lot of work to do."
Police are asking the public's help in identifying attackers in both Williamsburg assaults. The man from Friday's attack is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35 years old and was last wearing a gray hooded sweater and dark colored jeans.
