Uncertain future of St. Mary's Church (theyonkersledger.com) — St. Mary’s Church, Yonkers’ oldest parish overlooking the Hudson, is facing an uncertain future after a court settlement stripped landmark protection from its interior, leaving only the exterior safeguarded. City leaders, parishioners, and Southwest Yonkers’ Arabic-speaking community are fighting potential closure and redevelopment while the Archdiocese presses to merge the parish with nearby St. Peter’s. For now, bilingual and Arabic Sunday Masses continue, but no one knows for how long.
   

2. Budget Update – Mayor Spano Releases His Draft Executive Budget Before the State Budget has Been Finalized. Property Taxes Likely to Increase 5.25% (theyonkersledger.com) — Yonkers homeowners are facing a proposed 5.25% property tax hike and higher water and sewer rates in Mayor Spano’s draft 2026–27 budget, while school funding stays at historically high levels. The plan leans on tax increases and reserves to close a structural gap, with the City Council now set to review and hold departmental hearings.
   

3. Beware of Pokemon Card Crooks; Yonkers Man Scammed for $5,500 (yonkerstimes.com) — A Yonkers Pokémon card seller says he lost $5,550 after unknowingly buying stolen graded cards in a Facebook Marketplace deal near the Yonkers police precinct on Grassy Sprain Road. He immediately turned the cards over to police and filed a report, and has since launched a GoFundMe to help keep his small business afloat while warning other local collectors about similar scams.
   

4. North Rockland takes top spot in latest shakeups to softball rankings (lohud.com) — Yonkers softball fans can see their local teams climbing in the latest lohud rankings, with Yonkers ranked third in Class AA and Yonkers Montessori tied for fourth in Class B. The list tracks records through May 10 and shows how Westchester and nearby programs stack up as the regular season winds down.
