On the menu is beekeeping, birds of prey, a spring walking tour and Arbor Day fun.

WESTCHESTER, NY — Here are some of the events at Westchester County's parks over the coming weekend, April 27 - 28, 2019.
SATURDAY, APRIL 27
Pitch In for Parks Annual Volunteer Clean-Up
The largest one-day volunteer spruce-up of the parks in the county. Help give back to your local park with tasks ranging from removing invasive plants, clearing trails, picking up trash or helping out with planting. Great for service hour credits for groups and individuals alike. Call parks for a list of opportunities and sign up, or just show up on the day between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Sustainable Beekeeping Series: Hive and Apiary Set Up – 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Barn F

Learn about hive placement considerations in urban and suburban areas, as well as how to order, assemble and maintain tools and equipment. There will be a demonstration of assembling a Langstroth wooden hive and frames, along with a visit to the farm apiary. Part two of six-part series. Watch Pace University's James Eyring in action as he works with his live falcons, hawks, owls and kestrels at the farm.

Volunteer Work Project: Beautifying the Historic Structures – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Great for any type of service credit hours. Please bring work gloves. Hand tools will be provided.

Spring Morning Bird Observation – 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.
Spring is in full swing, with many birds about. Bring your binoculars and enjoy the adventure.

Make a traditional survival tool. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

A Walk in Search of our Feathery Friends – 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Bring binoculars and join avid expert birder Michael Bochnik for a hike around the preserve looking for birds and learning how to identify them.

Help plant some trees at the farm in honor of this special tribute on their day.

Nature Origami – 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Children and adults age 7 and older can create spring-themed works of art out of paper. Class will be held outside, weather permitting. Fee $4 per person; registration required.

Spring Walking Tour – 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Join Lasdon's horticulturist on a walking tour of the park to look for signs of spring. Meet at the Shop at Lasdon.
