2 Charged in Shoplifting Incident: Yorktown Police

One was charged as a juvenile, though the charge would have been more severe as an adult.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two arrests—one juvenile and one adult—were made Saturday by Yorktown police regarding a shoplifting charge at Sears.

Police said Nicolette Casatelli, 19, of Mohegan Lake, was charged with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

An unnamed 15-year-old Yorktown female resident was charged with juvenile delinquency, though if she were charged as an adult it would have been misdemeanor petit larceny.

On June 23, 2016, police received a call from Sears security reporting two shoplifter were in custody.

An officer responding to the scene investigated and arrested Casatelli and the 15-year-old.

Police said they left the store without paying for assorted clothing valed at $801.

The child-endangerment charge relates to Casatelli acting in a manner injurious to the mental and moral welfare of a child under the age of 17.

The 15-year-old was given a juvenile appearance ticket directing her and her parents to appear in Westchester County Family Court August 2.

Casatelli was taken to police headquarters, where she was processed and released on her own recognizance.

She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court August 25.
