3 Arrested In Yorktown On Multiple Drug-Related Charges: Police

Police initially pulled the driver over for allegedly not using a turn signal.

YORKTOWN, NY — Three people face multiple drug-related charges after being stopped for not using a turn signal in Yorktown. Police said Nicole Alvino, 28, of Walnut Road in Peekskill, was stopped while driving on Route 6 May 10. An investigation found that Alvino and her passengers —Jason M. Werlitz, 25, of Newbold Avenue in the Bronx, and Noel L. Edwards, 25, of Bronx River Road in Yonkers — were allegedly in possession of illegal drugs.

Police said Alvino allegedly had 30 clonazepam pills and a hypodermic instrument. She was also allegedly driving without a license.

Alvino was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and aggravated unlicensed operation, all misdemeanors, and fail to signal, a traffic infraction.

Werlitz allegedly had 1.4 grams of crack cocaine, 38 bags of heroin, eight alprazolam pills, two acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride pills, six oxycodone pills and 0.09 ounces of marijuana, according to police.

He was charged with four counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Edwards allegedly had 2.25 grams of crack cocaine, four suboxone pills and 30 clonazepam pills, police said.

He was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possesion of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

The trio was arrested and taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

Alvino was released on her own recognizance. Werlitz was released on $2,500 bail, and Edwards was sent to jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.

They are scheduled to appear in court May 23.
