YORKTOWN, June 10, 2015 – The Yorktown Grange, the only true country fair of its kind in Westchester County, will be celebrating its 91st year in September. Fair organizers announced the theme of this year’s fair, to be held September 10th to 13th, is “A Taste of the Farm.”

New to the Fair this year, Taste NY will present a variety of New York-based food and beverage vendors under one tent, offering both free tastings and products for sale to take home.

“We’re excited to welcome the Taste NY program to the Grange Fair this year,” Josh Davies, Grange Fair President stated. “The participating brewers, distillers, and food vendors will be showcasing their products produces locally in NY State which ties in nicely with the theme of this year’s Fair, “A Taste of the Farm”.

For 91 years, the Grange Fair has remained true to its origin of celebrating Yorktown’s agricultural heritage with livestock, poultry and produce exhibits alongside carnival rides and midway games.

While maintaining traditions is a cherished and integral part of the annual Grange Fair, each year also presents new attractions and entertainment. This year’s slate of entertainers and events are already in full planning mode, and will be announced in the next few weeks.

Last year saw a few major changes implemented due to attendee feedback: a new carnival ride company was brought in to offer a new selection of rides and games, and the fair began accepting credit cards for ride tickets for the first time. There will also be a couple of noticeable changes this year according to Davies.

“This year we’re debuting ‘Throwback Thursday’ with $2 admissions and discounted rides from 6:00 to 10:00pm as a preview of the midway. The full Fair, with entertainment and exhibits, will open on Friday at 4:00pm followed by full days both Saturday and Sunday,” said Davies. “And in response to popular demand, we are reducing the ticket prices at the gate to $8 for adults, and $5 for children and all students with school ID.”

Fair organizers also want to remind residents now that planting season is upon us, to plan now for fair exhibits by planting produce and flowers to vie for this year’s blue ribbons!
