Augie's to Host 5th Annual Autism Speaks Fundraiser

The event at Captain Lawrence Brewery also supports Community Based Services Inc.

Augie’s Prime Cut will host its 5th annual fundraiser for Autism Speaks at Captain Lawrence Brewery Sept. 21.

For the second year in a row, proceeds will also support a local organization,Community Based Services, Inc. (CBS).

Augie’s owners Audrey Hochroth and Sal Barone organize the event each year to recognize their daughter, Niki, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age. While they have provided special care for Niki, now 24, over the years, her recent emergence into adulthood has highlighted the additional care and support that comes with age. For that reason, a portion of the funds raised will benefit CBS, the organization that provides a home and care for their daughter.

This is a not-for-profit dedicated to providing people with autism and other developmental disabilities the best possible quality of life through residential and community-based opportunities in Westchester County including employment and day programs.

“Autism prevalence has skyrocketed so while we take this opportunity to give back, we also want to raise awareness for those individuals, children and adults alike, who are an equally important part of this community,” said Hochroth. “We are always humbled by the support from our neighboring business and loyal customers and look forward to making this year another fruitful, and fun, event at the brewery.”
