Bear Sightings In Yorktown Area Saturday
According to the state Department of Environmental Conservation, if you encounter a bear, never approach, surround or corner it.

YORKTOWN, NY — So apparently it’s not just the humans who are out and about enjoying a lovely spring day. The Yorktown Police Department issued an alert about possibly dangerous wildlife sightings.
Around 2 p.m., the police department said that two bears had been sighted in the Town of Yorktown.
One was near the area of Turkey Mountain, Route 118 and Route 129.

The other was around the area of Pines Bridge and Syska roads.
According to the state Department of Environmental Conservation, if you encounter a bear, never approach, surround or corner it. Bears aggressively defend themselves when they feel threatened.

You should never run from a bear. The DEC said to stay calm, speak in a loud and calm voice, slowly back away and leave the area.
