Bitter Cold, More Snow: When Will It Warm Up in Somers?

With temperatures 20 degrees below normal, we're all asking: when will it warm up around Yorktown?

SOMERS, NY — Dangerous cold, winds and freeze-up are sucker-punching areas hit hard by the blizzard, which dropped 9-33 inches of snow on the Hudson Valley Tuesday (with a few flurries Wednesday).

"In the wake of the blizzard, we’re left with just some amazingly cold air," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Thursday looks to be mostly cloudy, with a continued NW breeze, and temperatures nearly 20 degrees below average! Make sure you bundle up, because it’s going to be another day or two before we melt any snow."

In fact, it could be more than a day or two.

Plus, we've got several chances for snow left in March, the first this weekend, then in the middle of next week, (and AccuWeather meteorologists say more is possible at the end of next week).

And whether they bring flurries or accumulation, they'll bring cold air again with them.

Right now, Monday and Tuesday are the first time we'll see temps in the 40s....and they drop again Wednesday. So the snow won't be melting fast, and when it does, it'll create icy conditions at night and early in the morning. Winter's revenge may take us all the way to April.
