Blessing of the Animals -- Sunday, October 4, 2015, 2 pm

The blessing of animals reminds us to celebrate creation, and God's message that we shall be faithful stewards of the earth.

On Sunday afternoon, October 4th at 2:00 p.m., The First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown will offer a Blessing of the Pets. Members of the community are invited to bring their pets and gather in the back parking lot at 2:00 p.m. for the ceremony and individual blessings led by Pastors Chip Low and Tami Seidel . Families may wish to bring a picture of a pet that is too sick to come, who may be temperamentally unable to attend the ceremony, or who has died in recent years and for whom the family is thankful. Also, with the Blessing of the Animals Sunday, one of the youth in the church will be collecting a specific kind of cat food for her Girl Scout Silver Award. The food will be donated to a pet shelter in Peekskill called Little Orphan Animals, a non-profit, no-kill rescue shelter. They specifically need Friskies canned cat food and Purina dry cat food. If you would like to donate, there will be a box located in the gathering space where you can drop off your donation or you can bring it on October 4th.

The church is located at the intersections of Routes 35/202 and 132.  More information at www.fpcyorktown.org.
