In March 2015, New York State’s private sector job count increased by 8,600, or 0.1 percent, to 7,753,700, reaching a new all-time high, state officials said.

The statewide unemployment rate in New York declined from 5.8 percent to 5.7 percent in March 2015, its lowest level since August 2008, according to preliminary figures released last week by the New York State Department of Labor. New York City’s unemployment rate remained unchanged over the month at 6.6 percent.
The tri-county region of Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties saw a gain of 5,500 private sector jobs. an increase of 1.0 percent.
The Putnam-Dutchess county region saw a gain of 200 private sector jobs, growth of 0.2 percent.
