Charges in Yorktown for Unlicensed Man in Uninspected, Unregistered Car
Police allege they stopped him speeding on East Main Street Thursday.

An officer on routine patrol at 8:18 p.m. Thursday alleged he observed a 2015 Volkswagen GTI speeding on East Main Street.

A routine check of the driver's license revealed it had been suspended for failure to pay a fine, failure to obey a summons and failure to pay driver responsibility assessment, police said.
Plus, the car registration was suspended, for failure to pay parking violations, and the inspection had expired, police alleged.

The 25-year-old was charged with two misdemeanors -- third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration -- one traffic violation -- having an expired inspection -- and two traffic infractions -- for exceeding the posted speed limit and not notifying the DMV of an address change.
He was released on $100 bail and is due in Yorktown town court July 26.
