Looking for some early excitement?

Try the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Rockland Boulders over the June 17 weekend and through July 5.

The City of Poughkeepsie will celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks display July 2 over the Hudson River.

Pound Ridge will have Independence Day fireworks at dusk on Saturday, July 2.

The Town of Southeast will hold its Fireworks Spectacular from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 2.

West Point Military Academy will celebrate Independence Day with fireworks and a concert by the United States Military Academy band.

July 3

Lake Carmel will have fireworks at dusk July 3.

The City of Beacon will have a day of family fun Sunday, July 3.

The Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks will take place July 3.

Rye Playland will have two evenings of fireworks on Sunday, July 3, and Monday, July 4.

July 4

Dobbs Ferry will have fireworks for Independence Day.

The Village of Irvington will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks.

The City of New Rochelle will have fireworks.

The Village of Fishkill will have readings of the Declaration of Independence July 4.

The Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site has a series of events July 4.

Pleasantville will host Independence Day festivities on Monday, July 4, with the theme of “Freedom, Faith, Family and Fun.”

Rye Playland will have two evenings of fireworks on Sunday, July 3, and Monday, July 4.

Kingston is working with the DOT for a temporary permit to have its fireworks as usual on the waterfront July 4.

In Yonkers, Empire City Casino will host a Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration on the city's revitalized waterfront. Beginning at 4 p.m., the Independence Day party will feature an array of family friendly activities, live musical entertainment and a variety of food and beverage offerings on the Hudson River. Locals and visitors are encouraged to explore the downtown restaurants and shops while enjoying a variety of kid-friendly activities including inflatable fun houses, carnival games, dance parties and more. At 9:15 p.m., The Star – Spangled Spectacular Firework Show will begin.

July 6

The White Plains Independence Day Celebration will be held Wednesday, July 6, with entertainment, rides, food and fireworks.

The Cross County Shopping Center will have music and fireworks on July 6.

July 8

The Town of New Paltz moved its holiday celebrations to Friday, July 8.

And remember, it's not all about fireworks!

Get some context with some local history.

The Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site will celebrate the 240th birthday of the United States with a guided walking tour of the battlefield. An illustrated lecture on the development of the Declaration of Independence will take place at 1 p.m. Monday July 4, the Declaration will be read at 2 p.m. and cannons will be fired at 2:45 p.m.

The Town of Greenburgh will have a Family Day on July 16.

Due to popular support, Carmel has extended the time that 240 flags honoring 240 years of United States history will fly along Lake Gleneida.

Instead of being taken down after Flag Day, June 14, the flags will now fly until July 4.
