Guiding Eyes for the Blind to No Longer Provide Dogs for Autistic Children

The organization said it needed to concentrate on its core mission instead.

Yorktown Heights, NY — Guiding Eyes for the Blind is no longer offering certified service dogs for autistic children and that has some Westchester parents not happy.

The Yorktown Heights-based used guide dogs that did not meet the standards to work with blind people and were instead trained and placed in homes of autistic children, according to a report on FIOS1 News.

The CEO of the organization told FIOS1 News that Guiding Eyes needed to concentrate on providing dogs to the visually impaired.
