Jimenez In Custody: Massive Hudson Valley Manhunt Ends

Schools in the Hudson Valley had gone into lockouts and canceled classes while the search for the armed suspect continued.

SOMERS, NY — New York State Police have announced that Fernando Jimenez has been apprehended and is in state police custody.

Police had been searching for an armed suspect wanted in connection to an overnight shooting that left one dead and two in the hospital.

The New York State Police are investigating the shooting that took place in the Town of Somers around 11:35 p.m. last night.

One victim is dead, while two victims are receiving care at local hospitals, according to officials.

According to WABC-7, the victims were a woman and two children. The report said that two of the victims were taken to Westchester Medical Center, while one was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

The suspect, 40-year-old Fernando Jimenez, was last known to be in the Peekskill Hollow Road area in Putnam Valley. No word from officials yet on where he was caught. He was familiar with the victims, investigators said.

There remains a large police presence on Peekskill Hollow Road, and the area should still be avoided, according to authorities.

The Peekskill Central School District, the North Salem Central School District, the Mahopac Central School District, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, the Lakeland Central School District, and the Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES all implemented lockout procedures today while the manhunt continued.

State Police investigators this morning requested that members of the public check their trail or home security cameras for possible sightings and call 914-769-2600 with any relevant information.
