Indian Point 3 Shut Down After Outside Electrical Issue

Everything operated as it was supposed to, Entergy officials said.

Indian Point’s Unit 3 nuclear power plant safely and automatically shut down around 7:20 p.m. Monday following an electrical disturbance external to the plant, Entergy officials said.

The unit’s main electrical generator appropriately shut down as a protective measure following the disturbance.

The cause of the external electrical disturbance is not immediately known.
