Jefferson Valley Mall to Treat Area Residents to First "Movies Under the Stars" Event
Jefferson Valley Mall will treat shoppers and area residents to a fun night out Friday, July 15, during its very first "Movies Under the Stars!" event.

If you like spending some quality time with your family outdoors, need to get away from the daily routine, and want to see a movie on the big screen, then you might have to head out to the JV Mall.
And not necessarily for shopping. This Friday, July 15, the Jefferson Valley Mall will treat shoppers and area residents to a fun night out during its very first “Movies Under the Stars!” event.
The evening’s line-up includes pre-show activities followed by a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park,” a classic that’s sure to thrill adults and kids alike with its stunning visuals and heart-pounding action.

“This is the first time we are doing anything like this,” said Lauren Penchina, director of mall marketing and business development for Jefferson Valley Mall. “We are excited to bring a night of family fun and entertainment to our shoppers and Yorktown Heights residents.”
Sponsored by Lippolis Electric, Funtime Amusements, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk and Jefferson Valley Mall, the free event will be staged in the Lee Boulevard parking area near Sears.

The night’s festivities kick off at 6 p.m., with activities for the entire family, including an Air Castle, Bouncy Boxing and popcorn provided by Funtime Amusements. In keeping with the movie’s theme, representatives from The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk also will be on hand promoting its new “Dinosaur Summer” exhibit, which features life-size, robotic replicas of prehistoric creatures on display through Sept. 6.
“Jurassic Park” hits the big screen at approximately 8:15 p.m. Guests are advised to bring their own blankets or chairs for seating. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Closer to the movie-viewing area, Sears will be offering grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for a donation, with the proceeds going to Sears’ Heroes at Home program and the Simon Youth Foundation.
On a different note, the town of Yorktown presents Children's Summer Concert and Outdoor Movie on Thursday, July 14 at 7:15 p.m. Beth, Scott and Friends will perform, followed by the movie How to Train Your Dragon. The movie is rated PG and 98 minutes long. It begins at dusk and will be screened at the athletic field at the .
