The average monthly temperature for February 2015 at Westchester County Airport was 19.1 degrees, according to NOAA.

For the Hudson Valley as a whole, it was a legendary February— was the coldest on record, based on temperatures in Poughkeepsie.

“ Let that sink in for a moment,” said meteorologist Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “Whether you’re 30… or 70… you have not experienced a February as cold.”

“Poughkeepsie records go back to 1949,” explained Potter, “… and for as long as records have been kept in Poughkeepsie, the coldest February on record is 1979… which was 11.2° below average. After 27 days… this February is an unfathomable 12.7° below average!!”
