"It's hard to see a business going out of business," said Christina Kim, the owner of the next-door . "They're clean. The work is wonderful even in bad weather. It's so upsetting to lose a neighbor. They had hard workers. They just renovated a little while ago."

Kim said during the October snow storm, KFC was one of the few businesses that was open when all the rest of businesses were out of power. Kim said she had heard of rumors about possible other tenants, but there hasn't been anything concrete yet.

Michael Galluzzo, owner of , said he too saw tenants cleaning and moving out over the holiday weekend. And although he recently moved into the area, he said he had seen a steady stream of customers.

A business owner in the area who did not wish to be identified said possible high rent costs and the bad economic times are what's to blame for the business to move out of Yorktown.

According to the note left on the door of the store, KFC's other locations are at 1835 Main St. in Peekskill and 1891 Route 9 in Carmel.

This is the second business to close down in Downing Park, following the  last July.
