Labor Day Weekend Weather: Harvey Breaks Up Nice Days In Yorktown

Get the details about this weekend around Somers and we're keeping an eye on Irma.

SOMERS, NY — Labor Day weekend is upon us. The Hudson Valley will see some wet weather from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, the storm that has killed at least 47 people and brought devastating flooding to Texas. Harvey is now a tropical depression located about 40 miles from Nashville, Tenn. Harvey will continue to weaken before dumping some nuisance rain on the region Saturday and Sunday. No hazardous weather is expected locally.

Late Saturday afternoon through Sunday is when poor weather is expected. Temps will stay 10 degrees below normal, too.

"Typical weather for late September," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

But the holiday Monday is expected to be a perfect summer day.

"After dealing with damp and cool conditions from Harvey through Sunday, the Northeast will dry out and warm up on Monday," said Renee Duff, AccuWeather meteorologist. "Any lingering rain from Harvey will end early in the day across northern Maine. Temperatures will recover to the 70s and 80s F on Monday afternoon after being stuck 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit below normal on Saturday and Sunday."

After the holiday is over, it's back to school and pay attention to tropical storm Irma, now out in the Atlantic Ocean.

While Irma's eventual path remains unclear, Rick Knabb from The Weather Channel said: "We cannot rule out eventual impacts in the continental U.S. This is the reality of what we contend with during the peak of the season, one that has been forecast to be very active and with more than three months to go."
