Letter to the Editor: Harckham Endorses Schleimer

Karen Schleimer and Francis Corcoran are vying for Westchester Legislative District 2, which includes Somers and Mount Kisco.

Dear Friends,

Re: Harckham Endorses Schleimer for County Legislator

As your former County Legislator for eight years, I am writing to endorse Karen Schleimer for County Legislator this November.

Karen has a remarkable story and body of experience. As a single mother she supported her daughter and passed the bar exam to become a successful attorney without the benefit of going to law school. Today she counsels at risk women on how to put their lives back together. She served as Mount Kisco Village Prosecutor, Chair of the Mount Kisco Zoning Board of Appeals and now serves on the Mount Kisco Village Board, where she has held the line on taxes but continued to deliver a high level of services.

Karen was pivotal in the deal where we merged the Mount Kisco police department with the Westchester County police department providing better police service and saving the tax payers of Mount Kisco hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is this kind of forward thinking that we need in the County Legislature.

Unlike the County Executive’s failed “cut your way to prosperity” fiscal policies, Karen understands that in order to keep Westchester competitive we need to invest in our infrastructure, protect our drinking water and repair our crumbling roads and bridges. She also understands how wise it is to invest in our people, especially the working poor, to empower them to keep working and contributing to our economy rather than relying on expensive mandated services.

On Election Day, I urge you to vote for Karen Schleimer for County Legislator.

Sincerely,

Peter Harckham

Former Westchester County Legislator, 2nd L.D.
