Man Drives Drunk Past Emergency Vehicles: PD
Police said officers were at an accident and saw the man speed past emergency vehicles in violation of the state's Move Over Law.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of drunken driving, police said, after he passed emergency vehicles that had their lights activated.
The Yorktown Police Department said John G. Casas, 33, of Yorktown Heights, was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more, misdemeanors, and fail to yield right of way to emergency vehicles, speed not reasonable and prudent and unregistered motor vehicle, traffic infractions.
Police said, shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, officers were at the scene of a car accident on Route 6 near Sunnyside Street when another car passed the emergency vehicles when had their overhead lights activated — in violation of New York state's Move Over Law.

The car was going at a high rate of speed, police said, and was pulled over.
Casas was arrested and taken to police headquarters where his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.08 percent or more, police said.

He was processed, issued uniform traffic tickets and released to a responsible party.
Casas is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Feb. 24.
