Midnight Taconic Crash Kills Mohegan Lake Man
It's the second fatal crash on the Taconic this week.

MOUNT PLEASANT, NY — A fatal accident on the Taconic State Parkway occurred just after midnight Wednesday, according to New York State Police. The one-car crash involved a Mohegan Lake man driving north in an Audi A6.
State police from Hawthorne were called out at about 12:03 a.m. May 10. The crash was by mile post marker 4.8 on the Taconic, they said.
Jason G. Shenkman, 32, was traveling northbound on the Taconic when he reportedly lost control of the Audi and entered the median where the vehicle struck several trees before coming to rest.

Shenkman was a popular bartender at The Chop House on Route 6, according to Tap Into Mahopac.
A preliminary investigation indicates that speed was a contributing factor to the crash, police said. Shenkman was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Briarcliff Manor EMS where he was pronounced deceased. Shenkman’s cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology.
